Here's a slideshare presentation on Classroom management. Nothing particularly original or earth-shattering. Try things out and see what works for you. Every class, every pupil, every teacher is different. The main thing is to build good relationships with pupils beased on trust and respect.
I'll deal with the usual eclectic mix of sites, gizmos and online resources. Worth a go and worth trying out on pupils - not every lesson but certainly once every few weeks to keep them motivated and engaged. Remember - there's more to life than Powerpoint.
In this session (technology permitting) I'll cover:
As well as the usual excellent, tried & tested sites such as Linguascope, Zut, A tantôt, here are a few others which are worth a look. Some of the examples below can be used to support these Powerpoint DIY sheets, which are designed to give pupils useful GCSE language and scope to add their own creative input into their own presentations.
Generate quick quizes, games and random word/pupil selectors. There's a fun countdown timer with a selection of tunes.
Classtools also has a nice 'lights out' feature - upload any image, cover it and use the flickering candle to reveal selective parts and ask questions.
Here's an example of the arcade game generator. Just copy and paste words from Word with a * in the middle. Click the 'larger version' link underneath the image below to see it properly.
If you are in education and you think Bloom's is aJewish restaurant in London, leave the profession now.
Here's a Bloom's taxonomy bookmark to help teachers with questioning, setting learning objectives and measurable learning outcomes. It looks great folded and laminated. It was devised by myself and Jeni Shute, one of Verulam's English teachers and our very own VOPA (Verulam Outstanding Practice Advocate) or VIPA if we're feeling tough (Verulam Inspiring Practice Advocate)
